How Pipedrive contact labels work

Updated: Apr 20, 2023

Businesses of various sizes manage their sales pipelines with Pipedrive, a well-liked customer relationship management (CRM) program. Adding contact labels to your contacts is one of Pipedrive's primary features. In this blog post, we'll examine Pipedrive contact labels in more detail and discuss how they might help your company.

What are contact labels?

Contact labels are tags that you can assign to your Pipedrive contacts to help you organize and categorize them. Labels can be used to group contacts by industry, location, stage in the sales pipeline, or any other criteria that is important to your business. For example, you might use labels like "prospect", "lead", "customer", "vendor", or "partner" to help you quickly identify and sort your contacts.

The process of contact labels

It's simple to add labels to your Pipedrive contacts. Simply click the "Add label" button after opening the contact card for the person you wish to label. The label you want to add can then be typed in or chosen from a list of preexisting labels. Each contact can have as many labels as you like.

Contact labels can be used to filter your contact list after you've added them. As an illustration, you might want to view all of your connections who have the designations "prospects" or "leads". Simply select the label(s) you wish to filter by by clicking the "Filter" button in the top right corner of the screen. Afterward, only the contacts in your contact list that fit the criteria you choose will be displayed.

Benefits of using contact labels

There are several benefits to using contact labels in Pipedrive. Here are just a few:

  1. Organize your contacts: Contact labels make it easy to organize and categorize your contacts based on any criteria that is important to your business. This can help you quickly find the contacts you need and stay on top of your sales pipeline.

  2. Improve communication: By labeling your contacts, you can quickly identify the stage of the sales pipeline they are in and tailor your communication accordingly. For example, you might want to send a different message to a "prospect" than you would to a "customer".

  3. Streamline workflows: With contact labels, you can automate certain workflows based on the labels assigned to your contacts. For example, you might want to automatically send an email to all contacts labeled as "prospects" every week to keep them engaged with your business.

Your Pipedrive contacts can be categorized and organized with the use of contact labels. You may reorganize your workflows, enhance contact communication, and manage your sales pipeline by utilizing labels. Contact labels may keep you organized and effective in your sales process whether you run a small business or a major corporation.
